COVID-19 Pupil Home Activities
Dear Parents and Carers
I am conscious that a lot of you are now self-isolating and as this is a minimum of 7 days (14 days if you are in contact with anyone with symptoms) I thought it worth posting this link from the BBC https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-51936286.
I also thought it worth reminding parents that if you are keeping children off school we would recommend the following activities:
- Access BBC Bitesize as it has all the learning activities your children will need to keep up to date with National Curriculum expectations. This is particularly important for Year 2 and Year 6 whi have SATs exams and need to practice their English and Maths https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/primary
- Learn times tables (log into Times Table Rockstars if ypu have a log in) or use maths activities on line– The following are some suggested sites for free resources https://www.adaptedmind.com/Math-Worksheets.html?campaignId=751233789&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIx-erpfqj6AIVmLPtCh1piQAiEAAYASAAEgIrIfD_BwE
- Ensure that they are reading every day for a minimum of 15 mins for KS1 and 30 mins for KS2 children – The following are some suggested sites for free resources. https://www.adaptedmind.com/ReadingLP.php https://youtu.be/op9Bc7GWCuw https://www.youtube.com/user/MrsPStorytime http://www.childrenslibrary.org/icdl/BookPage?bookid=greappl_00150034&pnum1=11&twoPage=false&route=europe&size=0&fullscreen=false&lang=English&ilang=English
- Encourage your children to write everyday – this could be a simple as copying letters or writing out their alphabet to helping with shopping lists or writing letters to friends or relatives that they can’t currently see.
We will be posting things on the Website and getting work packs for children as we move forward. However, if schools do close we do not know how long that might be for so looking for good resources on line may be a good option rather than allowing children to just play games.
I hope that the above is helpful but we are always happy to answer questions.
Stay well, best wishes
Ms S Butler
